Assange

If the sex accusations against the founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange are not a CIA plot then HOW COULD THOSE SWEDISH GIRLS BE SO STUPID?

Apparantly the charges are not "rape" but: "having sex with two different women in under one week without using a condom" which in Sweden is against the law!

This is apparently what happened: NY Times report

Like... dudettes... Sisstaahhhz... Õ_ó (horrified expression)

This does NOT sound like rape at all... it just sounds like two little vindicious girls fawning over some lonely celebrity. It makes women all over the world look bad - and REAL rape victims, male or female - and if this leads to Assanges extradiction to the USA it is a crime against the internet.

bench-mark

Superkid got a tattoo for his 18th birthday. He really wanted one, so I took him to a classy looking tattoo shop and chose a nice tribal for the area of his upper arm just above the biceps. The artist looked a bit doubtful (I imagined) so I assured him that the subject was 18.. well, minus a day. He actually told me then that he didn't care how old his canvasses are so long as they have permission from their parents, and a man came in and inspected the Kid and informed us that his own son got his first tattoo at 15, for christmas. Well the Superkid doesn't look a day under 15 plus his mother was there to give permission, so the artist went ahead measuring and fitting the design. He took good care to stick the piece clear of any birthmarks. That didn't quite work out, so I suggested he stay 2 mm within the lines of the design, and then all 3 marks would be carefully avoided. He agreed and went to work, telling me that on his own body he painted over the birthmarks regardless, but with clients they are not allowed. I got quite carried away with the creative vibe and started thinking about a design for myself. Halfway through the work the artist started talking about the necessity to cover with an ointment during the first two weeks of healing, in order to avoid the 'crust' from breaking. I suddenly realized with a shudder, that although my sister and my brother and both my exes and my exes' sister and brother have tattoos, we never talked about the healing, and I was gripped with a panic about what I may have brought upon my cub. But he did not seem too worried. He is proud as a peacock, and pretends it doesn't hurt at all. Not nearly as much as cutting fingernails. Even when the blood was dripping along his arm as we were leaving, he was grinning and beaming with pride, and the first thing he did when we got home was call his dad and tell him "mom bought me a tattoo for my birthday!". Everything I ever did wrong in 18 years of parenting has been erased today.

I hope he still feels the same tomorrow!

terrorism is everywhere

The recent qualification of World Cup enthusiasm as "Orange Terrorism" has led me to realize.. there are so many forms of terrorism that we have learned to accept and live with every day that we don't even realize they are what they are... terrorism.

Safety belt terrorism. Insurance terrorism. Close-your-car-windows-when-you-park-your-car-at-the-local-supermarket-for-15-minutes-on-a-hot-day Terrorism. Seriously. I returned to my car today after visiting the supermarket, and the man just getting in or out the car parked next to mine reproached me for having left my window open. I replied that I thought it unnecessary to close it, because the neighbourhood was so safe. After a short silence, he agreed.

Watching the game NED-KAM while listening to an episode of a British television detective series. This is really quite interesting and can be recommended above doing it the other way around.

same voice, but easier to silence

My kid gets angry with me and shouts at me. So I told him he's started to be like his dad, same voice. And then he laughed.

Dutch expertise

So BP is destroying Floridas coast line and it's big on the news... Poor BP. They are not handling it well at all are they. Above all they should hire Shell's PR. Shell have been leaking oil in the Niger Delta for decennia and have managed to all but completely ruin the plant and animal life in it, poisoning the main source of drinking water for the human population ... perfectly undisturbed, without any notable effect on the public at all.

of empty camera batteries and perfect roses

An impression, of driving 1500 klicks in three days, of empty photocamera batteries, of donjons and abandoned houses, of ice cream colored skies and shining wet pavements, of having a coffee in a little town called Loches while waiting for the laundry, of tourists in pink bath robes and of some perfect roses.

pure black and bittersweet

What I really wanted for my birthday was a big black oversized garbage bag, and to take it around my house and fill it up with all the useless presents that anyone ever gave me in the past. And for none of those people to get angry with me for throwing their dedicated rubbish away.

What I really wanted is pure black bittersweet indifference, and I got what I wished for. Two whole bags full of it.

I cleaned this house as though I am moving out of here tomorrow. It felt good.

We are the devil

When I commented on this video on Youtube, I was being told that "it is only a war crime to shoot at people helping wounded or removing bodies if they are clearly marked 'Medic' ". (I forgot to ask in what language. For all we know that is what medics look like in Irak, they do not look very agressive to me.) And "if those guys are REUTERS journalists, what are they doing with those people carrying the heavy weapons, like the huge piece of equipment that guy was just hauling onto his shoulder?" and: I am really naïve to believe anything I am told through the internet, or to believe that those are cameras and not weapons.

Do we really believe in anything any more? We are the enemy, the non-believers, what are we doing? Our children will never live in a safe world, we have made them a proper set of justified enemies for generations to come.

cherry blossom and taxes

It is officially spring and I am more than halfway through my taxes. I can't tell you everything yet, but the net result is that I will soon be filthy stinking rich, because the Dutch government is well over its ears in debt to me.

But it's really not that easy, you see. All done with fingers.

having fun with my finger

I did this on my ipod. It rocks! OK to say that this sketch rocks is probably stretching it a bit, but in view of my recent hand sketches, I'd say the app is pretty good...!

Air plane wings have changed

Air plane wings have upturned tips.

And New York State looks cold and wet and ... quite beautiful, from the sky. And also beautiful is Great Britain at night, it looks like an elaborately woven fabric of dark tissue and patterns of gems. But of that I did not take any pictures at all. in fact after the few I took while on the fligh out to New York I completely forgot about my camera and didn't take it out again untill I returned home! But even though this was only a work trip it was really fun.

C&D waste sorters. No they do not employ kids. That - exaggerated perspective - is how you can see that my drawings are not good enough and I should practise more and I am not going to show you the others, they are even worse.
